Vehicles in German City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Authorities stated they were contacted by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Police then discovered many other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Police say preliminary tests suggest the substance was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; authorities are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they added.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for tips.

A senior political figure stated the attack left him speechless and needed to be addressed rapidly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the murder of nine people by a shooter focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
